Rangers Ballpark Will Now Be Called “Globe Life Park

Posted February 7, 2014

It used to be called The Ballpark in Arlington. Then it was called Ameriquest Field. Then it became Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. And now the Texas Rangers‘ home ballpark in Arlington is set for another re-christening. Insurance company Globe Life has purchased the naming rights. Henceforth, the stadium shall be known as Globe Life Park in Arlington. Just so you’re clear, this ballpark is located in Arlington, Texas. Not Dallas. The Rangers seem very big on reminding everyone that they don’t play in Dallas. Stadiums have their names changed so often, who can remember what these places are supposed to be called? What’s the one in San Francisco called now? I don’t even know. All this name-changing makes it harder for fans to develop an emotional connection to their home park. The Rangers park may be nice but people will never feel the same way about it that they do about Fenway Park or Wrigley Field. But there’s so much money in the naming rights scam, what are teams going to do? Of course they’re going to take the money. The heck with developing a deeper connection with the fanbase. That’s for suckers. Like Call to the Pen on Facebook. Follow Call to the Pen on Twitter. Subsribe to the Fansided Daily Newsletter. Sports news all up in your inbox. Topics: Texas Rangers
