Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Baseball team is back in action tonight at Wagner College. First pitch at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, the home of the Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees, is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Graham Tebbit (1-3, 5.28) will get the start for the Pride (18-20). Hofstra is coming off a 1-3 week with the lone win coming in a 10-8 victory over Northeastern on Saturday. Kenny Jackson’s two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth snapped an 8-8 tie andBrett Schreiber pitched 5 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.
The Hofstra offense put up impressive numbers during the week, batting .348 as a unit with eight doubles, four home runs and 20 RBIs. Freshman Brad Witkowski hit a team-high .533 for the week and earned Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week accolades. Junior Brian MacDonald batted .500 with a homer and four RBIs, while senior TJ Ehrsam hit .467 with three RBIs and three stolen bases. Senior Kenny Jackson batted .444 with two home runs and eight RBIs and became the eighth Hofstra player to eclipse 200 career hits.
Wagner enters the game with a 14-29 record and is coming off a four-game series split with Mount St. Mary’s this past weekend. The Seahawks bat .249 as a team and are led by Nick Mascelli’s .313 average. Chris Smith is hitting .312 with three home runs, 16 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. Nick Dini has a .250 average to go along with three homers, 20 RBIs and a team-leading 16 steals. Shaun Flynn has driven in a team-best 23 runs.
Austin Goeke (0-0, 9.64) will start for the Seahawks. The appearance will be just his fourth of the year and will mark his first start.

Hofstra holds an 18-8-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Seahawks, though the teams have not played since March 18, 2003, a 6-2 road loss for the Pride.
After playing at Wagner, Hofstra returns home to host College of Charleston in a Colonial Athletic Association series starting Friday at 3 p.m.
