    History

Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium (Sports Authority Field, Mile High) replaced Mile High Stadium in 2001 as the new home for the Denver Broncos. The Broncos played at the historic Mile High Stadium for over 30 years until construction for the new arena started in 1999. Construction of the new stadium cost more than $400 million and the total square footage equals 1.8 million square feet. The stadium opened on January 29th, 2001 as INVESCO Field at Mile High, in respect to Mile High Stadium (which originally was named for the fact that Denver is one mile above sea level), and was later changed to Sports Authority Field at Mile High in 2011 when the naming rights were acquired by Sports Authority. Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium kept some of the traditions from the old stadium such as the horseshoe shape of the stadium, the stomping of the steel treads and risers by fans to create the Rocky Mountain Thunder, the South Stands Superfan section and the Bucky the Bronco statue located in front of the stadium. Broncos' fans also kept the tradition of the Incomplete Chant, in which fans complete the announcement of an incomplete pass by saying In-Complete before the announcer does.
